Mid-January 2012: E-file becomes available.
January 17 2012: IRS begins accepting e-File returns.
January 25 2012: First day refunds can be distributed via direct deposit from IRS for returns submitted between January 17 and January 19.
January 27-30, 2012: This is a big peak weekend for beginning filers
February 2012: 'Get Refunds by' and 'FREE technical support'
March 1, 2012: The 'Late filing Season' begins.
April 4-15, 2012: The final peak of tax season -
April 15, 2012: Tax Year 2011 tax season ends. This is the last day to file tax returns if you haven’t filed an extension.
April 16th - Oct 17th, 2012: This is the time period for people who filed an extension to submit their taxes.
